Use this form if you need to find a code/decode on an airport or airport designator. Additionally, some results return the latitude and longitude of the station and an indication of whether TAFs are available.
You can do a search on partial words; so 'Aber' would certainly return Aberdeen! And EG would return all the UK ICAO stations
The wild card character is %. An ICAO search for %EG would return all those ICAO codes with EG anywhere in the code. (Computer anoraks will realise that a wild card is added to the end of the search string, automatically, by the software.)
Searching for an airport name will find all database entries which contain your search string anywhere in the airport name. In other words a 'greedy' search is performed, returning as many matches as possible.
Unfortunately, searching on city names to locate an airport often fails. Paris, for example is not listed, but Charles De Gaulle is; Perpignan isn't but Rivesaltes is. A solution is to use the geographic area search at the bottom of this page which returns all airports having schedules flights within a 60 mile radius of a specified location.
There are currently 9524 airports/locations listed in the database.
The search below searches on a city or town name and finds airports with weather data (i.e. major or regional airports - not farm strips). The search returns the five closest airports within 60 nautical miles. This search solves the problem of cities not having an airport of the same name. E.g. Paris does not have an airport named 'Paris'!
These search facilities are also available to you on your cell phone; they are part of the YAWS family of products for GA pilots
